Palm Beach Home Tour

Photos and home tour via House Beautiful

This Palm Beach home is full of style, charm, and a punch of color. The watermelon hues of this apartment are enough to make me smile! I'd love to go on a  vacation in this apartment (but not so sure I could live here year round!) I love the combination of whites with wood pieces, gold finishes, the colorful screen behind the headboard, and the unique lantern chandelier over the dining table. It's just so sweet. What's your favorite element of the home?

My mom and grandma are here visiting me in Michigan this week, so I'm taking tomorrow and the weekend off to spend time with them. I'm SO happy to have them here!
Happy Thursday!

Apartment Gallery Wall Progress

I love showing you progress in my apartment each week! This week I'm showing you the gallery wall in my living room. I decided, since my ceilings are vaulted, the wall with the TV needed something else on it to take up more visual space, also distracting from the black TV. Creating a gallery wall around a TV is one of my favorite ways to do just that. Now your eyes will go to the pretty art and pictures, not the boring black box. First, I'll show you my design inspiration for the gallery wall. I played around with some layouts in photoshop before I hung the frames, and I ended up changing it again before getting it up on the wall.

The above inspiration helped guide me in the layout, but I actually found a few more frames I wanted to add into the mix. I laid out the collage on the floor before I put it up on the wall, just to be just I liked the layout. Then I started from the middle, hanging the peony print from Minted first. Have you seen their art prints?! There are so many lovely ones here

Next, I hung the Butterfly print from Minted and the Whatever is Lovely print by Lindsay Letters:

In order to balance the white frame on the right side, I hung another white frame on the bottom left but turned in the horizontal orientation for some variety (I've yet to fill that frame with a picture! I need to print a photo still!)

Because the TV is black, carrying a ton of visual weight, the gallery wall needed a few touches of black to help distribute the weight around the wall. Without a black frame, the gallery wall would have felt small and way too "light" for the space. Black helps ground the wall, bringing contrast and tying in the black from the TV. So, next I hung my beautiful Chair print by Jill Atogwe in the upper left:

I mirrored it on the other side with another black framed print of a settee, also by Jill. This one I turned the other way for some variation. Below it went a white frame with my All Gold print by SS Print Shop

TIP! Before I hung any of these frames, I taped a piece of paper to the wall, took a step back behind my couch and made sure it looked good in that spot. That way I don't have extra holes in my walls from little mess ups ;)

I can't show you the whole thing, but I can give you a sneak peek of the finished gallery wall:

Do you have any gallery wall hanging tips?! Hopefully some of these visuals helped you with your next collage project.

Happy Wednesday!

White Blouse + Mint Denim: Ruby Cross Boutique Giveaway

DETAILS | White top / Sandals / Mint Jeans (Similar) / Bracelet

When good friends make their dreams happen, I get excited. Really, really excited! One of my best friends, Megan, recently started a boutique, Ruby Cross Boutique, where she sells some really fun clothes! I'm going to be helping her out by modeling the clothes for pictures for her website, and well…that's a dream come true. Who doesn't want to model adorable clothes?! This white shirt is from the shop and it's my go-to shirt. I loveeee white blouses, because I secretly think they make me look more tan. Maybe not? :) Paired with regular denim or colored denim, the white top looks adorable. The new sandals are adorable and comfortable, too!

Ruby Cross Boutique is a sponsor of The Bloom Workshop and will be dressing Ashley and I on the day of the workshop. We can't wait to show you our outfits! Each guest at the workshop will be getting something from the shop in their swag bags. Today, Megan is giving away $45 to RCB to one lucky winner! You can enter below using the Rafflecopter Tool:

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day from Hope and the rest of my family! What are you doing today? Hopefully a BBQ (or "cookout" as they call it here in the Midwest ;) is on your agenda. Did you shop at all this weekend, taking advantage of any sales? I wanted to share a few more of my favorite items with you:

1. West Elm is having 25% off your purchase using code SUMMER, but I just love all their trays and butler stands. My clients always end up with at least one West Elm Tray!

2. Pottery Barn is having a FREE SHIPPING sale with code FREESHIP. This is huge, as shipping is always what kills me! I'm in love with a few of their rugs:

3. Nordstrom's half yearly sale is still going strong! This is the time to buy cute sandals and wedges for Summer and jeans for fall/winter. They tend to be on sale now! I'm not going to lie, I always buy nice, fairly expensive jeans, because I know they will last for at least 4-5 years. I rarely have to buy a new pair, but when I do, I go to Nordstrom, because I know they have my favorite brands with a great return policy. There's also free shipping online, so it doesn't hurt! I think I need to invest in a pair of flared jeans this season…I'm kind of loving them now! Here are some of my favorite brands:

4. C. Wonder is holding an additional 50% off sale! They literally have everything-- from home goods, entertaining accessories, clothing, to jewelry, shoes and handbags, I love it all.

Happy Memorial Day! More than anything today, of course, we honor the men and women who served (and continue to serve) our country. I am so grateful. I'm praying for God to protect our soldiers and our country.

Love Affair with my Headboard + Giveaway!

I'm SO excited to show you my headboard today! It arrived last week after I showed you my pretty Serena & Lily bedding. Shannon, of Three Strands Design, created this AMAZING headboard and I couldn't gush more about it if I tried. Almost every time I walk in my room, I say "I love my headboard so much!" I'll never tire of looking at it. It could be the fact that I've never had one before, or the fact that an upholstered headboard makes me feel really grown up. Whatever the case may be, it's beautiful and the large nailhead detailing is perfection.

My bed is a full, but I got a queen sized headboard just in case I ever upgrade, the headboard won't go to waste. (Seriously, if there was a fire and I could grab one thing, I'd try my hardest to get that headboard outta there with me :)) Okay, enough of the talk. Want to see it?! AND keep scrolling because one of you will have the chance to win your very own headboard!!! This is the sweetest day.

DETAILS | HeadboardSerena & Lily Bedding / Serena & Lily Nightstand / Lulu & Georgia Lamp /Caitlin Wilson Textiles pillow (we got the fabric and my grandma sewed them beautifully for me!)

So gorgeous, right? And it's made exquisitely! Now the fun part. Shannon is GRACIOUSLY giving away $350 shop credit to her store for you to pick out your own headboard. If the headboard you want is over that credit, you can apply your $350 credit towards the headboard of your dreams. This is kind of amazing, friends. Tell your friends and family to enter for you :)

You can enter below using the Rafflecopter Tool.

DIY: At Home Manicure

DETAILS | Candle / Essie Go Ginza  / Base Coat / Top Coat / File / Cuticle Trimmers / Bubble Bath

Since moving into my new place, I now have to forgo the luxury I had before (when I lived with my parents) of getting my nails done bi-weekly. I'm saving that cash and putting it towards, well, my apartment and all the costs that come along with that. It works out well because I actually enjoy painting my own nails. Have I ever told you that when I was little I ran a nail salon out of my garage and my sweet cousins and aunts would come get their nails done from me? I even had a manicure desk! It was awesome. I digress ;)

Here are a few simple steps to a great At-Home-Mani:
1. Fill a shallow bowl with warm water, bubble bath, and cuticle gel. I bought mine from my local nail salon (They don't normally sell them but I begged and got it for $3 ;)) Let your nails soak in this for 3-5 minutes.

2. Get a nice scrub (I love the one from Trader Joe's, pictured above) and scrub your hands, leaving them nice and silky. You can also make your own scrub using coconut oil, sea salt or brown sugar, and honey.

3. Next, I cut my nails first, file, then put more of the cuticle gel on each cuticle. Using the little blue tool pictured above, I push back the cuticles with the gel on then wipe it off. Then I trim the cuticles and wash my hands before painting.

4. Before painting, I lightly buff the top of each nail.

5. Paint on a base coat, two coats of the color you want, and one coat of a top coat. Dip a small paint brush into remover and clean the edges of your nail beds, getting the excess off.

6. Let them dry for a good 10-15 minutes. This is the hardest part for me! I get anxious and usually always mess one up.

I always light a yummy candle while doing my nails. Makes it so much more relaxing.
Do you have any at-home-manicure tips or tricks?!

Happy Wednesday!
